On the occasion of the 10th anniversary: Generation change at AKOTEC heralded

As part of AKOTEC's 10-year anniversary celebration, managing partner and founder Reinhold Weiser announced the appointment of Katrin Sprenger as the company’s new managing director.

As part of AKOTEC’s 10th anniversary celebration, the managing shareholder and founder of the company, Reinhold Weiser, announced the appointment of Katrin Sprenger as the new managing director. Katrin Sprenger, originally from Prenzlau, is a trained graduate in business administration and has been with the company since its founding in 2008. In the coming years, the business will be jointly managed by both, with each focusing on different areas of responsibility.

While Reinhold Weiser will continue to oversee the technical side of the business, Katrin Sprenger will take charge of sales. “With this step, the first move towards the transfer of the business to the next generation has been made,” Reinhold Weiser stated to this newspaper. The company is now looking for an external candidate or possibly an internal successor in the coming years to take over the technical role as managing director.

With this move, AKOTEC is taking a stand against the trend in the Uckermark region, where an increasing number of businesses are closing due to a lack of successors when the company leadership retires. Since 2008, AKOTEC has been producing vacuum tube collectors at its Angermünde site for a wide range of applications, which are sold worldwide. Where, 15 years ago, around 30 employees of the Employment Agency were working to place job seekers, today AKOTEC provides 25 employees with future-oriented jobs, thereby contributing to secure incomes for their families.

At the InnoTec Center, where AKOTEC is the anchor tenant occupying most of the 3,000 m² commercial space, several other companies with technical content are also located. Additionally, after the move-out of ABW GmbH, office space in the building will again be available. Start-up founders can stay in the InnoTec Center rent-free for six months if they present a promising business concept.
