The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of Brandenburg has announced the competition for the Metal Cluster for the fifth time. With the “Brandenburg Innovation Prize Metal 2018,” the Ministry of Economic Affairs honors outstanding, marketable innovations with future potential.
A total of 21 applications were submitted. From these applications, five companies were nominated, each given the opportunity to present their innovation personally in a pitch to the jury. Among the nominated companies is the Angermünde-based company AKOTEC.
AKOTEC applied with the development of a thermal large collector for solar heat injection into district and district heating networks – the MEGA Collector. Through the development of this unique large collector, additional jobs are being created in the region, and a new business field is being opened. The new MEGA Collector is used in solar district heating and district heating networks, and by injecting solar energy, it helps reduce CO₂ emissions. The collector segments are already delivered fully pre-assembled on returnable pallets and are characterized by their easy installation. The MEGA Collector is already in use in two projects.
The presentation took place last Friday before a five-member jury in Berlin. After the presentations, the jury could select up to 3 winners. Now it’s time to wait.
The winners will be honored during the Cluster Conference on November 14, 2018, in Eberswalde. The winners will receive a certificate, a sculpture, as well as supporting marketing measures and a prize money of up to 10,000 euros.
This prize would be a great recognition for the company on its 10th anniversary. Over the past 10 years, AKOTEC has grown from a collector manufacturer to a manufacturer of solar thermal heating plants and has successfully positioned itself in the global market.
