AKOTEC supplies the Eugen natural gas pipeline in Kienbaum with environmentally friendly heat energy

The Angermünde-based AKOTEC Produktionsgesellschaft secured a major contract for the largest process heat system in Germany. A large-scale solar thermal plant is being installed for a gas pressure regulating station along the Eugen natural gas pipeline in Kienbaum.

The AKOTEC production company based in Angermünde has secured a major contract for the largest process heat plant in Germany. A solar thermal large system is being built for a gas pressure regulation station on the EUGAL gas pipeline in Kienbaum. AKOTEC is supplying the 165 MEGA collector segments needed, which will be assembled on-site into a large collector.

The collectors, produced in Angermünde, will supply the plant with green energy across 4,000 square meters. “The maintenance-free modules with a service life of about 40 years are designed for large systems,” said AKOTEC CEO Katrin Sprenger. A large-diameter collector pipe inside the system allows for easy expansion through an innovative series connection. This not only saves time but also installation costs, as the segments are fully pre-manufactured in Angermünde. AKOTEC received the Berlin-Brandenburg Innovation Award for this development last year.

The MEGA collectors are known for their longevity and efficiency. High-performance vacuum tubes ensure 100% thermal insulation of the glass tube and provide protection against corrosion, condensation, and contamination.

The approval process for the solar thermal large system, which will be the largest process heat plant in Germany, has already started. AKOTEC CEO Katrin Sprenger was already present for the first groundbreaking ceremony. The plant will be operational next year and will feed CO₂-free green heat into the gas pressure station in Kienbaum. The construction of this and other large systems shows that the widespread use of solar thermal energy is gaining importance across Europe.

The AKOTEC production company recognized this trend some time ago. Founded in 2008 in Angermünde, the company contributes to environmental protection with its energy-efficient solar thermal products and supplies international customers with its innovative products.
